COURSES OFFERED

We offer courses on Audiology and Speech Language Pathology with the approval of the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) and in affiliation with The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai (2nd largest Medical University in India). The core area of these courses is aimed at studying the diagnosis, management and treatment for speech, language & hearing disorders. The curriculum also emphasis on learning the causes of these disorders and also the research methods focusing techniques and technologies in diagnostics and management of these disorders.

UNDER GRADUATE COURSE: B.ASLP

B.ASLP course is a 4 year program consisting of 3 years theory classes and clinical exposure and one year of exclusive clinical training as internship. After passing all the three years examination conducted by the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University and after the successful completion of the internship program, the B.ASLP degree is awarded by the University.

QUALIFICATION

The candidates should have passed the + 2, HSC/CBSE/ISC or its equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology / Mathematics / Computer Science / Statistics / Electronics / Psychology @ +2 level with a minimum of 50% marks.

AGE

The candidate shall not be older than 25 years on the 1st July of the year of admission.

ELIGIBILITY CERTIFICATE

The candidates who have passed any qualifying examination other than the Higher Secondary course examination conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu shall obtain an Eligibility Certificate from the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University by remitting the prescribed fees before seeking admission.

POST GRADUATE COURSE: M.sc Audiology

M.sc Audiology course is 2 years program which includes both theory and clinical training. As part of the 2 year curriculum, the students prepare a Research project (Dissertation) guided by the faculties in their area of expertise and is submitted to the University three months before the commencement of the 2nd year examination, which is also evaluated by the University.

QUALIFICATION

B.ASLP/B.Sc.,(Sp. & Hg)/B.Sc.,(HLS) Degree or equivalent (including internship) from any recognized University in India

ELIGIBILITY CERTIFICATE

The candidates who have passed any qualifying examination of UG Degree course other than the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University shall obtain an Eligibility Certificate from the University by remitting the prescribed fees before seeking admission.

LIBRARY

“Knowledge has to be improved, challenged, and increased constantly, or it vanishes”.

The constant quest for knowledge can only be fulfilled by the pool of information that are gathered from  books, journals, reference materials etc., and library is the most essential of all facilities provided by any teaching institution. MERF-ISH caters to the academic growth and excellence of all its members by providing valuable resources. The library is considered as one of the greatest assets. The Library was inaugurated in the fond memory of “Dr SADHANANDH SINGH, Ph.D, Co Founder, Chairman and CEO Plural Publishing Inc, USA as a mark of paying rich tribute to him for his invaluable contribution to the Hearing impaired.

OBJECTIVES

MERF – ISH was established to provide competent professionals in the field of Speech and Hearing and will always strive hard towards achieving this goal. The latest editions of all book and other information related to academics is accessible to the students and the staffs to enable them to achieve global standards.

SPACE

This library is in a quiet area of the Institute with an air-conditioned reading room and allows the students/staff to concentrate on their academic preparations.

COLLECTION OF BOOKS

This library is a valuable source of information and is provided with all the necessary books in the varied subjects of Audiology, Speech Language Pathology, Linguistics, Psychology, Anatomy& Physiology, Acoustics & Electronics. The updated editions of several books are available. The library also has the collection of the research work done by the Post Graduate students which is done as a part of their course during their second year.

Students and faculty members also have the option of taking photocopies of certain portions for their preparation.

USER GUIDELINES

Each member of the Institute is issued the resource material. The book is made available with the student or the faculty member for a period of one week.
